Yoga pose for weight gain – Baddha Konasana

Are you very thin even after having good food regularly? Want to put on weight and appear manly & impressive. Eager to develop muscles like your favourite celebrity! If so, then you can do yoga to gain weight. One such yoga is ‘Baddha Konasana’ also referred to as bound angle pose. This yoga pose simply requires you to be in sitting position. Baddha means bound & kona means split or angle.

It also known as ‘butterfly pose’ since the stance availed resembles like that of a butterfly in motion. It takes place as your open hips get joined by your feet and there occurs up & down movements. Another variation of this type of yoga pose is ‘Supta Baddha Konasana’.

This asana is also called ‘cobbler’s pose’ as, cobblers can be found to sit in this particular position and doing their daily tasks.

Steps to follow

  • Take a mat & sit comfortably on it in Dandasana or Staff pose.
  • Bend your knees as you exhale and bring your feet soles together to touch one another.
  • Bring your heels gradually closer to the pelvis region, without causing any stress to the knees.
  • Then push your feet’s outer edge into the floor and wrap hands across the feet.
  • In neutral position, place your pelvis and work your knees gently towards the floor.
  • Now, recline torso in forward position to make your spine straight. For this, bend at hip joints and hold for about 1-10 minutes.
  • Go back slowly to initial pose.
