Yoga pose for clear & smooth skin – Halasana

If you desire to have clear & smooth skin, then you should practice ‘Halasana’ or Plow pose. In Sanskrit, ‘Hala’ means ‘Plow’. This inverted yoga pose is recommended for intermediate yoga practitioners. In this pose, the body take the shape of a plow.

Steps to follow

  • First lie on the floor flat and keep your arms besides, with legs together and palms facing downwards. Take low & deep breaths to relax your body.
  • Use your abdominal muscle strength to lift legs away from the ground to make it perpendicular with the floor and keep them together & straight.
  • Press arms gently against floor, while raising your buttocks. Roll your spine until your big toes touch the ground above your head.
  • Keep spine straight in final position.
  • With arms kept closer, interlock fingers of your hands.
  • Tuck your chin in collar bone centre for final position. This might take some time. Avoid forcing yourself, since you might strain your neck muscles.
  • Then stretch your arms & legs in opposite direction and hold this pose for about 15 seconds, while taking deep & slow breaths.
  • Lower your spine gently to release this pose and place legs in vertical position. Lower down your legs slowly to the ground and relax entire body. Perform it for about 3-5 minutes. However, beginners should perform for few seconds only.
